About My Approach

Hi there, thanks for stopping by! My background as a play therapist informs my therapeutic approach with children and adults alike. While sessions with adult clients tend to be more talk-based rather than play-based (unless it’s an RPG group!), I still center playfulness, attachment needs, and somatic awareness with those seeking to gain deeper self-understanding, process trauma, or navigate challenges within relationships. In my work with children, I enjoy communicating through the language of play to support my clients in expressing their inner worlds and learning skills to process their feelings and life experiences. I work closely with parents and caregivers to center family needs and values throughout the process. You can expect that I will consistently show up as my authentically warm, curious, nerdy, silly, slightly awkward self, and I will follow your lead in setting the pace of our work together. I believe that the most profound change happens when we are able to slow down and allow ourselves to be fully seen, messy, and curious about new possibilities within the context of a safe, supportive, and emotionally attuned relationship.

In addition to nearly 5 years of experience working in a community-based mental health setting with children and families, I also have experience working in violence prevention, youth centers, peer counseling programs, mentorship programs, youth shelters, and on crisis lines. I chose the field of social work because I understand that mental health needs are directly informed by our social contexts, intersecting identities, and environments. I acknowledge my positions of power and privilege as a white, U.S.-born, cisgender woman, and I aim to provide care from a place of cultural humility by centering each client and family’s unique strengths, beliefs, and values in the healing process rather than prescribing any kind of one-size-fits-all approach.

I have found I often work best with children and adults who are neurodivergent (self-/late-diagnosis welcome) or who identify as LGBTQ+, as well as those impacted by anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, existential anxieties, life transitions, and/or trauma/complex trauma.

If you think we might be a good fit, I would love to hear from you! Please reach out to schedule an initial consultation using this form.
